Software Maintenance

Keep maintenance from slowing your roadmap.

Built on NVIDIA OpenShell, the open source runtime for AI agents.

New features help win customers. Maintaining the software they depend on helps keep them. Build agents on the HyperShell platform to backport fixes into supported releases, update dependencies, apply security patches across versions, and address recurring bugs. Our forward-deployed engineers work with your team to implement the initial workflows. Your engineers can then modify those agents and create new ones independently.

Who it helps and the problem

Who this is for

  • Software companies building and maintaining their own products.
  • Vendors supporting multiple product versions for their customers.
  • VPs of Engineering, or engineering directors and senior managers in larger organizations.

The recurring problem

Maintenance pulls engineers away from building new features. New features help win customers; maintenance helps keep them. Both compete for the same people.

Example workflow

Where we start

  1. 1

Backports: moving fixes into older supported product versions

  2. 2

Dependency upgrades: bringing in newer versions to obtain their fixes

  3. 3

Security patches: applying patches across versions and updating vulnerable dependencies

  4. 4

    Bug fixes for recurring issues

An example workflow

  1. 1Bug fix, dependency update or security patch
  2. 2Identify affected supported releases
  3. 3Prepare the change for the right branch
  4. 4Run validation
  5. 5Submit a tested PR
  6. 6Your review and acceptance

Updates target an approved, supported version rather than automatically upgrading everything to the newest release. Production changes and security risk acceptance stay with your designated owners.

First engagement and success measures

The first engagement

A pilot covers one product or repository group, a defined set of supported releases, and one repeatable maintenance category.

The completed task is a tested PR against the appropriate release branch, ready for your review and acceptance.

How we measure success

  • Primary: engineering effort per accepted maintenance change, including review and rework.
  • Secondary: maintenance backlog age.

These are the evaluation criteria for a pilot, agreed with you up front. They are not published results.

What we can show and next step

What we can show today

We can demonstrate basic dependency-update workflows and complex SBOM tooling. SBOM generation on its own does not prove vulnerability remediation or backport automation; the pilot is where those are built and evaluated.
